What is Politics and International Affairs?

Politics and International Affairs is a liberal arts discipline designed to prepare students as informed citizens and leaders in contemporary society. Political Science studies the institutions and processes people use to influence issues in the public sector. International Studies benefits students wishing to work with the great variety of international issues, such as development and globalization.

Note: Fredonia also offers a combined B.A./M.P.A. program with the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy at the University at Albany.

What Can I Do with a Politics and International Affairs Degree?

Fredonia Politics and International Affairs students pursue careers in law, journalism, the U.S. foreign service, public administration, personnel work in the private sector, non-profit advocacy, Congressional and Presidential staff positions, sales, law enforcement (including the F.B.I.), the ministry, marketing, radio and TV broadcasting, consulting, secondary education, and partisan politics. Students may also go on to a variety of professional graduate programs.

Major-specific activities and student organizations and clubs provide venues to make connections and build strong networks. Depending on personal interests and career goals, students may clubs such as the Politics and International Affairs Association, Honor Society of International Studies, Fredonia Mock Trial, National Political Science Honor Society, Fredonia Democrats, College Republicans, Fredonia Debate Forum, International Club.
