RA Selection Timeline

  • Mandatory Information Sessions
    • Tuesday, September 12th, 9pm - 10pm, S204ABC Williams Center
    • Wednesday, September 13th, 9 pm - 10pm, S204ABC Williams Center
  • RA Application available:  September 15th at 9:00 am - September 29th at 5:00 pm
  • Round 1 Interviews:  October 2nd-13th
  • Written evaluation by current RD, current RA, and outside sources due:  October 12th at 5:00 pm
  • Interview 1 Elimination/Notification of Group Process Assignment:  October 20th
  • Round 2 Interviews:  October 24th - November 3rd
  • Group Process:  November 5th
  • Tentative Announcement of final appointment:  November 10th

RA Position Qualifications

  • Applicants must have a 2.25 cumulative GPA at the time of application.
  • Applicants must have resided in Fredonia's residence halls for at least one full semester prior to the date applications are due.

Employment Conditions

  • Period of Employment:  January 8, 2018 - May 19, 2018(dates may change)
  • Remuneration:  Room waiver; $200 meal plan allocation per semester; $525 stipend per semester paid in two increments.
  • RAs must be registered as a full time student, which is a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.
  • RAs must maintain a cumulative and semester GPA of 2.25.
  • Attendance at RA Training, RA Selection, Residence Hall opening and closing, and your desk hours are mandatory.
  • Employment is contingent upon maintaining good judicial standing; all judicial history is reviewed prior to hire.
  • Student teaching is not permitted while employed as an RA.

Basic Duties

  • The RA will fulfill all of their on call responsibilities.  In addition to duty hours, each RA is responsible for five additional desk hours.
  • Attendance is expected at all hall and campus wide events, along with RA functions.
  • RAs are required to come to campus early and stay late for training, opening and closing purposes (including vacations.)
  • RAs work closely with the RD in the performance of all duties.
  • RAs are there to assist individual students in their house personally and academically through referral.
  • RAs should create an atmosphere in the residence hall that is conducive to self direction and self discipline.  RAs should also develop a sense of community within their hall among students and staff through participation in programming.
  • RAs provide students with information about student services on campus.
  • RAs must participate in weekly staff meetings with their residence hall director.
