Why should I attend?
You should attend Summer Orientation because this program is designed to provide you with the information you need to be successful at Fredonia. We appreciate as a transfer student that you have a better idea then a first-year student what life is like a college student, however there are some things special to Fredonia that you will need to know in order to be academically successful here. Specifically new transfer students will:
- Finalize their fall course schedule with a specially-trained academic advisor. (After June 15, a tentative schedule will be available for you to preview on Your Connection.);
- Become familiar with campus support services and learning tools;
- Process their FREDCard;
- Learn about the general education requirements for all students, components specific to your selected major, or opportunities to explore a potential major;
- Meet with current college students who will share their experiences and tips about being a student at Fredonia.
Program registration for transfer students will take place from 8:00 – 8:30 a.m. on Monday, June 19.
Following registration and refreshments, you will hear welcome remarks starting at 9:00 a.m. and be introduced to our Orientation Staff. After a brief review of the day’s schedule, you will participate in an academic session that will include a discussion of general education and your academic experience. You will also have a chance to experience some learning tools that will assist you over the course of your academic career. After a buffet lunch, you will be a part of a small group participating in a series of informational workshops designed to assist you with planning for the fall semester as well as the years ahead. During this time, you will finalize your class schedule for the fall semester. The day will conclude at 6:00 p.m. At that time you will leave with a finalized schedule and your FREDCard.
Should you be traveling a distance, students may stay on campus the night before the program, the night of the program or both. You may request housing when completing the reservation form in Your Connection.
The transfer orientation fee is $80. Students do not need to pay in advance, but you must pre-register in advance.
Students will be charged this fee, whether your choose to attend or not. This includes the program, orientation materials and lunch.
There is no additional Parent/Guarding Orientation Program scheduled for the transfer session. However, there will be orientation staff available to answer questions and guide parents/guardians to any office they would like to visit while on campus.

. Once you have logged in, please click on Student tab and then scroll down to the bottom and select Summer Orientation.
Each session is limited to a specific number of students to ensure personal attention for each student and each session is filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Confirmation of your Reservation
Once you have registered for your orientation session, you will be directed to a "Confirmation Page". If for unavoidable reasons it becomes necessary to cancel or change your reservation in any way, you can make changes by clicking the Make a Change link on the Confirmation Page. If you are unable to make changes once you click the link, call (716) 673-3271 for assistance. Please be aware that it is the responsibility of the student to make his or her own travel arrangements to Fredonia through airlines, bus companies, and/or travel agencies.
Please print a copy of the confirmation page and bring it with you to your orientation session.
While you are welcome to have parents or guests travel with you to orientation, the program itself is restricted to student participants only. However, there will be orientation staff available to answer any questions they may have or guide parents to campus offices that they would like to visit. Parents/guests are also encouraged to explore the campus on their own, enjoy time in our café and coffee houses, and visit the surrounding local eateries and shops.

Required Admission/Housing Deposit
Orientation reservations cannot be processed until your Admissions/Housing Deposit ($100; or $50 for those who do not require on-campus housing in the fall) is on file with the Office of Student Accounts. The Admission/Housing Deposit can be mailed directly to the Office of Student Accounts (envelope was provided with your Admissions acceptance packet) or processed online. This Admission/Housing Deposit activates you on the university’s computer database and allows you to view your tentative schedule and finalize your fall class selection at orientation.
