Dear Students,

The Counseling Center @ Fredonia stands in support of all of our international students. Our international students are a valuable and integral part of our Fredonia family and we want every student to feel safe, secure and welcome here.

We know that many of our students may be experiencing distress, fear, uncertainty and anxiety at this time. We are concerned about students having the needed support to keep moving forward and being able to continue with their goals, academic pursuits, research and programs of study.

The Counseling Center is available for counseling appointments that are confidential and free to enrolled students. We seek to offer a safe and secure place where students can discuss any concerns in a supportive environment.

The Fredonia Community recognizes that many feel impacted by the recent events in our country. For the overall health of our community, we are sharing some strategies to help manage any feelings that may arise.  Coping with National Issues -  PDF Please add a description of this image.

Feeling Stuck?  Maybe Counseling Can Help:

The college years are a unique time in an individual's life. It is a time when one emerges into adulthood. As our society continues to change and evolve, college students are experiencing some of the most dramatic, exciting, and often distressing changes. This period is one of excitement and uncertainty, possibility and confusion, new freedoms and new fears.

The lessons learned and the obstacles overcome during these years can provide a wonderful opportunity for intellectual, social, and emotional growth. These years can be a time for exploration, a time for healing, and a time to establish healthy habits that will promote your overall wellness throughout your lifetime.

Creating your life can be a difficult task.  From time to time, we get the urge to make changes that would promote a healthier, more satisfying lifestyle.  It might be because we get inspired.  We might see someone else living the life we want.  A new possibility might occur to you.  Maybe, someone in your life is challenging you to set the bar higher.  Most often it's because things have gotten so bad that we are no longer willing to tolerate it.

Brief, episodic counseling interventions can help you to harness your energy for change, those impulses that we frequently feel, and explore them in a structure that helps you to stay committed to what is truly important to you.  It becomes difficult to keep the patterns in your life the same when you begin to focus so much consistent attention on what you really want.

If you have taken the time to visit this site and to read this passage, there is a good chance that you or someone you care about may benefit from speaking to a counselor. Fredonia's Counseling Center offers free, confidential, private and individualized services by licensed mental health professionals to all registered students. Contact us today.
